Susie Bernice Jennings, age 93, a resident of Hobart since 1953, passed away
on Saturday, January 28, 2012 in Valparaiso.
She was born on November 12, 1918 in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of
Burdett and Lottie Robbins. Susie was married to Harry Jennings II on July
11, 1941 in Crown Point.
Susie is survived by her loving daughter Sherry (John) Biddle, of
Valparaiso, grandchildren Jaimee Biddle, Indianapolis, Jorie Biddle,
Chesterton, and Julie Biddle, Princeton, great-grandchildren Haley, Amaira,
and Douglas III, and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded
in death by her parents, her husband Harry Jennings II, her son Harry
Jennings III, and her sister Oma Robbins.
She had worked as an office worker at Bendix Corporation in South Bend.
Susie was a member of the Hobart 1st United Methodist Church. Her great joy
was traveling and living in different parts of the country with her husband
while he was in the service. She loved to cook, bake pies, read mysteries,
and play bridge with her couple’s groups and lady friend’s groups. She had
four different flower gardens with a variety of beautiful flowers and would
always welcome a new flower start. She was a wonderful wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to all.
A graveside service for Susie Jennings and her son Harry Jennings III, will
be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 directly at Calumet Park
Cemetery, 2305 West 73rd Avenue, Merrillville, Ind. Family will process from
Rees Funeral Home - Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, at 10:15 a.m.
This will be a combined committal service including the burial of cremains
of Susie and her son Harry Jennings, who passed away on December 27, 2011.
