Spiro George Cappony, age 89, recently of Reno, Nev., formerly a lifelong resident of Northwest Indiana passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 in Reno.

He was born in Gary, Indiana.

Spiro is survived by his wife Martha; sister Kiki Cappony; two sons, George (Sharon) Cappony and Nicholas (Linda) Cappony; two daughters, Estelle Cappony and Antonia (Harold) Peskin; two grandsons, George (Sandy) Cappony and Matthew Peskin; granddaughter Kara (Charles) Hargis; two great-grandsons, George Cappony and Tyler Hargis; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Stavroula Cappony and his sister, Christina Argeroudis.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Geisen Funeral and Cremation Services, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, Ind.

A Trisagion prayer service will be offered Thursday at 5:00 p.m., followed by the Order of Ahepa service.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison St., Merrillville, Ind., with Rev. Theodore Poteres officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary, Ind.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to: Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral or Ahepa Chapter #78.
