Mary Ellen Miller, age 81 of Chesterton, passed away Monday, January 23,
2012 at Waters of Duneland.
She was born June 26, 1930, in Gary, Indiana, to Harvey and Lola Dehaven
Kremke, both of whom preceded her in death.
On August 28, 1949, she married Charles Lawrence “Larry” Miller who preceded
her in death May 14, 2006.
Mary Ellen is survived by her children Thomas (Lesli) Miller of Biloxi,
Mississippi, James (Barbara) Miller of Omaha, Nebraska, Terri (James)
Tarquinee of Chesterton and Jean (David) Wood of Brooksville Kentucky; her
granddaughters Valerie (Nick) Simic, Laurie Rhed, Carrie (Dean) Kuehl, Megan
Miller, Hannah Miller, step grandson Arin (Shaleena) Drestelkamp,
great-grandsons Chris, Joe, Bailey, Paynter , step great-grandsons Arin,
Deegan and Aiden.
She is also survived by her brothers Howard (Sally) Kremke of LaPorte, Ind.,
and Robert Kremke of Porter, and her aunt and uncle Corky and Harold Johnson
of Valparaiso.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Harvey and John Kremke and sister
Alice Kipper.
Mary Ellen was a member of Porter United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern
Star and an employee of Porter Bank in the 1970’s, working as a teller. She
was an avid reader and an accomplished painter, landscapes being her
specialty.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the
Duneland Community Church, 1552 Pioneer Trail, Chesterton, with Pastor G.
Thomas Jones and Pastor Greg Arthur officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until time of
service at the church.
Memorials may be given to Westchester Library Home Visitation Program.
Arrangements are under the direction of White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South
2nd St., Chesterton, 926-1309.
