Dennis LaFrance, age 71 of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012.
He was born April 21, 1941 in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, to Peter and Vivian (Michaelson)
LaFrance.
On February 20, 1961 he married Melody Belan who survives along with their
children Denise Werkheiser of Antioch, Calif., Sherri (Ken) Larson of
Chesterton, Brian (Lois) LaFrance of Park Forest, Calif. and grandchildren
Alex (Danny) Runewicz, Ashley Carroll, Andrew Werkheiser, Sophia, Ethan,
Gabriel, Juliette and Claire LaFrance.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Arlene Gould.
He graduated from Monessen High School. Dennis had worked at Bethlehem Steel
Burns Harbor Plant for over 38 years, retiring in 2001 from the Safety
Department. After retirement he served as a security guard with A & B
Security and spent time gardening and landscaping professionally and for
family and friends. His very giving nature kept him busy as he was willing
to do almost anything for anybody in need. Other than his dogs, Max and
Jade, one of his greatest joys was singing in the choir at Liberty Bible
Church.
Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a memorial service will be held
Monday, May 21, at Liberty Bible Church, 824 N. Calumet Ave., Chesterton, at
7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the church.
