Ronald N. Stevens, 86, of Valparaiso, passed away Friday, February 3, 2012
at the VNA Horton Hospice Center.
He was born January 22, 1926 in Indiana Harbor to Nelson and Alene (Snyder)
Stevens.
On November 24, 1956 in Valparaiso he married Margaret J. Hineline, who
preceded him in death December 21, 2003.
Survivors include one daughter, Leslie (Bruce) Richart of Porter; eight
grandchildren, JJ, Layla, Rebecca, Joshua, Ryan, Jerimiah, Annette and
Travis; six great-grandchildren, Vivian, Chloe, Tyler, Grace, David and
Kailana; one nephew, Robert Poling; two nieces, Donna Davis and Nancy
Anstead; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents; one
daughter, Cheryl Miller; and one sister, Roberta Poling.
Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Army, served as the Town Marshall in Ogden
Dunes and was hired as a Deputy Sheriff for Porter County. He was also an
electrician and owned and operated CML Security Service in Valparaiso. He
also served as the Porter County Civil Defense Director, retiring in 1999.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 5-7 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 N.
Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, Ind., where the funeral service will be held on
Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Craig Forwalter officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mental Health Association of
Porter County.
