Larry Gene Simpson, age 80, of Michigan City, passed away on Wednesday,
January 4, 2012, at his residence.
Larry was born on July 20, 1931, in Monette, Arkansas, to Edgar and Willie (Hartsell)
Simpson, both of whom preceded him in death.
On September 11, 1950 he married Lavene Prince, who survives.
Also surviving are his two sons, Larry (Marian) and Daniel (Shawnie)
Simpson, daughter, Marsha (Ray) Tappan, five grandchildren, Sandi Martin,
Dawn Simpson, Chad Kaiser, Tim Simpson, and Stacy Simpson, five
great-grandchildren, Chase Kaiser, Harlin Simpson, Allianna Simpson, Fiona
Martin, and Ewing Martin, brother, Paul Simpson, and sister Suda Reeves.
Seven other siblings, Austin Simpson, Vivian Fletcher, Norman Simpson, Estel
Simpson, Nina Simpson, Inez Mullen and Shirley Bronaugh preceded him in
death.
Larry retired from LTV Steel in 1986 after 33 years of employment, with the
majority of time working as a foreman. He also owned and operated Rouser
Fishing Charters out of Michigan City for 20 years. He was an avid sportsman
with a love for the outdoors.
Larry was a member of the Church of Christ, in Michigan City, where he often
volunteered. He will always be remembered as a caring and loving husband,
father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Funeral service will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home on Monday, January 9,
2012 at 11:00 a.m., with Minister Roger Lee officiating. Burial will follow
at Beatty’s Corners Cemetery, Michigan City.
Visitation will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington St.,
Michigan City, Ind., on Sunday, January 8, 2012 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
