Joyce A. Kurfman, 66, of LaPorte and formerly of Portage, Ind., passed away peacefully at 5:00 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012 at her home.

She was born August 29, 1945 in Harco, Illinois to Brady and Lena (Woolard) Gobin.

On December 16, 1961 in Portage, IN, she married Donald R. Kurfman. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2006.

Survivors include two daughters, Cherri (Tim) Rykhus of Kingsford Heights and Dawn (Dale) Haddock of LaPorte; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Gobin of Eldorado, Ill., and one sister, Clara Lawrence of LaPorte, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Norma Angles.

Mrs. Kurfman attended Portage High School. She was a member of Calvary Tabernacle Church in Three Oaks, Mich. Joyce loved to spend time with her grandchildren and enjoyed fishing and working in her yard.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 3:00 p.m., (E.S.T.) Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Calvary Tabernacle Church, 606 N. Elm Street, Three Oaks, Mich., with Rev. Bradford C. Payne officiating.

A visitation and viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) until time of service, Wednesday at the church. Cremation will take place following services.
