Eugene L. Novreske, age 76 of Portage, Ind., passed away Monday, December 3,
2012 in Valparaiso, Ind.
He was born
November 9, 1936 in Michigan City, Ind., to Leonard J. and Mary (Piotrowski)
Novreske, both of whom preceded him in death.
Eugene was
married to Paula “Merle” Novreske, who also preceded him in death.
Eugene is
survived by his son, Kevin Novreske of Florida; step-sons Robert Phillips of
Valparaiso, Ind., and Tom Phillips of Virginia; daughters, Carla Novreske of
Chesterton, and Dawn Tharp of Valparaiso; brother, Adrian (Connie) Novreske
of Westville, Ind.; sisters, Patricia Wolford of Westville, and Sandra Loetz
of Michigan City; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and one
great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; his dog Buddy; and his special
friends, the Kominakis family.
He was preceded
in death by his step-son Paul Phillips.
Eugene was an
avid Cubs fan and worked at Mittal Steel as a steelworker for over 40 years.
He was a veteran of the US Army.
Funeral services
will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans
Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind., with Rev. Frederick Hoover
officiating.
Visitation will
be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service
at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cremation will
be performed by Heritage Crematory, with burial of ashes at Chesterton
Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be
made to the American Heart Association.
