Eugene J. Justak, Sr., age 85 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away suddenly on
Friday, August 10, 2012.
He was born January 17, 1927 in Whiting, Ind. to John and Wanda (née Stanish)
Justak, who preceded him in death.
Eugene is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Genevieve (née Kowalski)
Justak, of Chesterton.
Eugene is also survived by his sons, Jeff Justak of Lowell, Ind., Guy Justak
of Hammond, Ind., and John (Luann) Justak of Florida; daughters, Tina
(Richard) Mockler of LaPorte, Ind., and Maria (Bill) Stephan of Chesterton;
brother, Raymond (Martine) Justak of Indianapolis, Ind.; sisters, Lorraine
(James) Homco of Texas and Annette (Marcello) Borgetti of Schererville,
Ind.; sister-in-law Patricia Kohl of Quincy, Ill., and numerous
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Eugene Justak, Jr.
He was a very devoted and loving husband and father. Eugene was a retired
general foreman from Inland Steel. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic
Church in Chesterton. Eugene attended Whiting High School, was a member of
the National Honor Society and graduated from Northwestern University, where
he and his brother Raymond were star football players. He was inducted into
the National College Football Foundation Hall of Fame. Eugene loved to
garden, watch football, and spend time with his family. He will be most
remembered for his warm smile, generosity, humor and his heart of gold.
Eugene will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Christian Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at
11:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Whiting, Ind., with
Father John Kalicky officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at St.
Paul Catholic Cemetery in Valparaiso, Ind., at 4:00 p.m. that afternoon.
Cremation will be performed by Heritage Crematory, Portage, Ind.
