Edward 'Larry' Stevens service Thursday

Edward “Larry” Stevens, age 70 of Chesterton, passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Porter Regional Hospital, Valparaiso, Ind.

He was born May 30, 1942 in Gary, Ind., to Edward C. and Leona Furiak Stevens, both of whom preceded him in death.

Larry is survived by his children Michael (Mary) Stevens of Fountain Hills, Arizona and Tracy (Matt) Koontz of Warsaw, Ind., grandchildren Payton, Kaylee, Alexandra, Dayne and Corissa, brother Mark Stevens of Whiting and former wife Eva Maria Stevens of Las Vegas, Nev.

He is also preceded in death by his step-mother Ruth Stevens and special friend Marlene Walker.

Larry was a welder for Bethlehem Steel for over 30 years, member of the Moose Lodge 1623 and the VFW Post 2511. He was an Army Veteran serving his country in Vietnam. He enjoyed football, rooting for the Bears and Notre Dame. Traveling the country brought him great pleasure as did the companionship of his two cats. Larry was a “people person.” He enjoyed talking and visiting with others and many of his friends were a very important part of his life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 18, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. from St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet, Chesterton, with Father James Meade officiating. Burial will be in the Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 17, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton.
