Dennis M. Miller, age 66 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away peacefully at his
home on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.
He was born December 5, 1945 in Boone Grove, Ind., to the late Arno and
Alyce Hallberg Miller.
On March 15, 1969 in Crown Point he married his loving wife Cheryl O’Lena
Miller, who survives in Chesterton.
He is also survived by his children Gary (Michelle) Miller of LaPorte, Ind.,
and Michelle Collinsworth of Porter; grandchildren Shayla (Chris) Ribar
(with great-grandchild on the way) of Valparaiso, Ind., Katlyn Collinsworth
of Porter and Lindsey Miller of LaPorte, Ind.; sisters Janet Sue Harrison of
Demotte, Ind., and Mary Anne Claywell of Berrien Springs, Mich.
Dennis is also survived by his father-in-law Orville O’Lena, of Chesterton;
brother-in-law Dan O’Lena and sister-in-law Nancy Miller of Largo, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Roger Miller, brothers-in
law Charles Claywell, Robert Harrison and Chuck O’Lena and his mother-in-law
Betty O’Lena.
He was a truck driver for U.S. Steel for over 10 years with his latest
employment being with Heartland of Des Moines, Iowa. He was on the NOPAC
ambulance and later served on the board. A veteran of Vietnam, he was
honorably discharged as a Captain in the U.S. Army. Dennis was a hard
worker, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and was very excited to
become a great-grandfather.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the family in memory of Dennis.
White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton, is in charge of the
arrangements.
