Delmer A. Olson, age 78 of LaPorte, Ind., formerly of Chesterton, passed
away Thursday March 22, 2012 in Chicago.
On June 3, 1933 he was born in Chesterton to Alfred and Margaret Michaels
Olson, both of whom preceded him in death.
Delmer is survived by his children Kay (Al) Zorn of Naperville, Ill., Dale
Olson of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Mark (Michelle) Olson of Chesterton; his
grandchildren Heather (Matt) Long, Becca Zorn and Aaron Zorn of Naperville,
Ill., Cody Olson, Dylan Olson, and Kennedy Olson, all of Chesterton and his
great-granddaughter Abbey Diane Long, of Naperville, Ill.
Delmer is also survived by his siblings Gene Olson, of Colorado, and Marlene
Valpatic, of Florida.
Delmer was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Chesterton. He was also
a member of the Chesterton Moose Lodge 1623, the Michigan City Moose Lodge,
American Legion Post 170 and the Porter County Farm Bureau. Delmer was a
life long farmer, and enjoyed collecting and repairing antique tractors as a
hobby.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from
White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton, with Pastor Jane
Aicher officiating. Burial will be at the Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012
at the funeral home.
