Former Chesterton resident Craig Allen Beavers died at 6:20 p.m., May 28,
2012, in Alva, Oklahoma.
Craig was born November 20, 1952 to James and Audrey Beavers, both of whom
preceded him in death.
Craig and his wife Leisa were killed in a motorcycle accident in their
hometown of Alva, Oklahoma.
Craig, 59, had been Deputy Warden at Bill Johnson Correctional Center since
Feb. of 2011. Leisa Larae Beavers 49, was employed as a photographer. They
had eight adult children.
Craig has two surviving brothers, Gary (Nancy) Beavers of Chesterton, and
Dennis (Karen) Beavers of Wabash, Ind., as well as many extended family
members who will miss him very much.
Craig was a Chesterton High School graduate. He served our country as a
Marine and has been President of The Survivors Clean and Sober Motorcycle
Club for several years.
According to the report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the collision
occurred when Christopher Tidwell, 25 of Cherokee, made an improper left
turn in front of the 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Craig with
Leisa as a passenger. Both were ejected an unknown distance from the point
of impact.
