Bertha Bean, age 74 of Porter, Ind., passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan City, Ind.

Bertha was born on February 5, 1938, in Rockville, Ind., to Horace and Rosa Marie (Kashon) Kent.

She married Ralph F. Bean on November 29, 1955, in Terre Haute, Ind.

She is survived by her sons, Frank (Sula) Bean of Hobart, Ind., and Donald (Lisa) Casey of Portage, Ind.; daughters, Rose Bean of Porter, Ind., and Louise (Charles) Grant of Michigan City, Ind.; brother, Richard Kent and sisters, Gladys Phillips and Rosiemay; grandchildren, Jason, “J.R.” and Courtney and two great-grandchildren.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ralph.

Bertha worked as a cook for Randler’s Tavern and the Village Tavern.

Private family services will be held and interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home.
