Benjamin Martin service Monday

Benjamin M. Martin, age 80 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Waters of Duneland Chesterton.

He was born April 7, 1932, in Saranac Lake, New York, to Benjamin M. Martin Sr. and Margaret McDonald Martin, both of whom preceded him in death.

On January 7, 1959 in Gabriels, New York, he married Jeannette Elizabeth Larche-Martin, who survives in Chesterton.

He is also survived by a son, Todd M. (Judith) Martin of Porter and daughter Betsy (Dany) Slay of Lakeland, Fla,. and grandchildren Zachary and Alannah Slay, and Benjamin, Jacob, Jonathan, Anna and David Martin.

Also surviving are brother Douglas (Patsy) Martin of Savannah, Mo., and brother-in-law Curt Pierson of Montpelier, Vt.

Benjamin was also preceded in death by three brothers: Frederick, Francis and Henry Martin, and a sister, Marjorie Pierson.

Benjamin worked as a Carpenter for 40 years. He was a member of Fairhaven Baptist Church in Chesterton and a member of the Jolly 60s.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 at Fairhaven Baptist Church, 86 East Oak Hill Road Chesterton, Ind., at 2 p.m. with Pastor Roger Voegtlin officiating. Burial will follow at the Chesterton Cemetery.
