Anthony V. Santucci, a lifelong Chicago Heights resident, has died at age
87.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Catherine Santucci, nee Rigoni.
He is also survived by his children Cathy (Chuck) Seely, Terri (Denio)
Bolzan, Anthony Santucci, Karen (Joseph) Zarlengo, Steven (Liz Granoff)
Santucci, Lisa (Jim) McTaggart, and Vicky (John) Kane.
Also, grandchildren Brittani (Tommy) Moore, Brendan Seely, Michelle and
Michael Bolzan; Stephanie Santucci; Dominic, Gianna, Mia, Isabella and
Vincent Zarlengo; Eva, Christopher and Nicholas Santucci; Connor, Alex and
Sam McTaggart; Adam Santucci; Taryn and Megan Kane. As well as
great-grandchildren Karsyn and Trey Moore.
He was preceded in death by his brothers John, Herman and baby Dominic
Santucci.
A pioneer in South Suburban broadcasting, Tony started WCHI radio station
from his Chicago Heights home in 1949 and South Cook Broadcasting Inc. WCGO/WTAS
in 1959, serving as President until his retirement. He was a Veteran of WWII
–U.S. Army/OSS and a graduate of Bloom High School Class of 1943.
The funeral will be held Friday, 9:15 a.m. at St. Kieran Church, Chicago
Heights, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery,
in Glenwood, Ill.
Visitation will be at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St. (U.S. Rt.
30, 3 blocks east of Western Ave.), in Chicago Heights, on Thursday, August
9, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
