Alberta Jean Simon, age 82, of Chesterton, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2012 at her home.

She was born on October 20, 1929 in Jackson, Michigan, to Victor M. and Mary (O’Harrow) Swager.

Jean was married to Parnell Simon, Jr. who survives in Chesterton.

Jean is also survived by her daughter Carolyn Simon, of Chesterton, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son William Simon and brother Victor E. Swager.

She was a school teacher for Duneland schools and had received her bachelor’s degree from Michigan University and her master’s degree from Indiana University. She was a member of Chesterton First United Methodist Church.

Cremation will take place and a graveside service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Chesterton Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind.
