Thomas McCarthy of Valparaiso, formerly of Chesterton, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011 in Valparaiso. He was 68.

He was born August 18, 1942 in Chicago to Dennis James and Myrtle (Zimmerman) McCarthy, who preceded him in death.

Thomas is survived by his brothers, John (wife Shirley) McCarthy of Porter, Don McCarthy of Chesterton and Warren (Carol) McCarthy of Chesterton; and sisters Carol McCarthy of North Carolina and Cecilia Payne of Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dan and Dennis McCarthy.

Thomas retired from Inland Steel. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving for 10 years, and was a member of the VFW and FOP in Michigan City.

There will be no services. Cremation will be performed by Heritage Crematory, Portage. Arrangements are being handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.EE-FH.com
