Stephen M. “The Iceman” Roesly, 63, of Marion, Indiana, died at 1:05 p.m.,
Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011.
He was born in Marion to the late Charles and Mary Ruth (McFadden) Roesly.
He married Connie Lee on August 11, 1996. She survives in Marion.
Also surviving are son Stephen II “Gunner” (Lindsay) Roesly of Marion;
sisters Mary Lou Atkinson of Marion, Brenda Miller, of Jonesboro, Ind.,
Nondus (Kent) Malott, of Marion and Charla (Jim) Norgaard, of Chesterton,
Ind.; brother George "Mack" Roesly, of Florida and sisters-in-law Pam
(Brian) Burbank of Gas City, Ind. and Bree (Don) Carter of Marion.
Also, grandchildren Stephen III, Jenna, Harrison, and anxiously awaiting the
fourth grandchild, Liv; mother-in-law Dee Stuttle, of Marion and many nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ed, sister Beverly,
brother-in-law Larry Miller and brother-in-law, Richard Atkinson.
Since December, 1988 he has been the owner/operator of The Ice House
Restaurant, Marion, Ind.
Prior to opening The Ice House, he worked at Dana for 20 years. He was a
member of Saint Paul’s Catholic Church and was also a member of numerous
boards and organizations.
Roesly loved his community and church. He loved Marion, Indiana, The Ice
House, his family and most of all, his wife.
He loved his country with “Only in America Can We Do the Things We Do” being
his motto. He had a huge heart and enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved
young people.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2011, at St.
Paul Catholic Church, 1009 Kem Road, Marion. Rev. Richard Weisenberger will
officiate.
Visitation was held Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 1-8 p.m. at Needham-Storey-Wampner
Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, with a prayer
vigil at 7:30 p.m.
Burial will take place at Estates of Serenity Cemetery, Marion, Ind.
