William Curtis Allen, age 83, passed away December 20, 2011 at The Waters of
Duneland in Chesterton.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 62 years, Marilyn Allen of
Chesterton, Ind., as well as his children, Paul Allen of Aptos, Calif. and
Lynn (Bob) Brzykcy of Chesterton; three sisters, Lillian (George)
Kondratenko, Ginny (Tom) Hudak and Linda (Joe) Bloomfield; five
grandchildren, Craig Bush, Christy (Rich) Amburgey, Keith Allen, Cori
Christensen and Tabitha Allen; five great-grandchildren, Keenan Bush, Nathan
Bender, Alyssa Allen, Kyle Bush and Evan Sprang and many nieces, nephews and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Chris Allen; brother, Donald (Jean)
Allen; and sisters Mary (Eric) Aalfs and Helen (Charles) Hudak.
Born in Clariton, Pennsylvania, he moved in 1961, with his wife and
children, to work at Midwest Steel, in Portage, Indiana. After retiring in
1986, he worked as a bus attendant with Portage Township Schools from
1987-2006.
During his life, William was an avid hunter and fisherman, in addition,
belonging to Midwest Steel Retirees Club, American Legion Post #260, and
Prison Guard Retirees of Sugamo Prison Tokyo, Japan. William and his wife
are regular attendees of Portage First United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2011 at noon at Edmonds &
Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, Ind. with
Pastor Deb Rousselle officiating. Burial will follow at Heritage Cemetery,
Portage, Ind.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00
p.m. at the funeral home.
