Services for Iris Larson, 90, set for Monday

Iris Larson, age 90 of Porter Ind., passed away Wednesday October 19, 2011 at Porter Hospital Valparaiso Campus.

She was born December 25, 1920 in Darlington, England to John Edward and Barbara Cram Newton, both of whom preceded her in death.

On October 9, 1943 in Gary, Ind., at the Bethel Lutheran Church, she married her husband Russell Larson who survives in Porter.

Also surviving are her children Barbara (Thomas) Osowski of Walkerton, Ind., Ronald (Genny) Larson of Portage, two grandchildren Rhonda (Tim) Hamilton of Portage and Steven (Melissa) Larson of Chesterton, five great-grandchildren, Sarah, Alexis, Victoria, Madison and Steven Jr. Step great-grandchildren Duncan, Cody and Austin.

Iris is survived by her brother John E. (Peggy) Newton of Ogden Dunes, sister Linda Micchia, sister-in-law Doris (Lee) Thrasher of Miller, care giver Carol Townsend and several nieces and nephews.

Iris was a member of Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, an organist and enjoyed ballroom dancing. She was former President of the Gary Art League and was a dunes artist.

She also enjoyed crossword puzzles. Iris was a loving wife and mother.

A funeral service will be on Monday October 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. (CST) from the Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church 100 N. Mineral Springs Rd., Porter with a 10:00-11:00 a.m. visitation.

Pastor Erik Bernth will officiate with burial in the Burstrom Cemetery in Porter, Ind. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton.
