Loyce Eileen Stoddard Nesbit of Monroe City, Mo. passed away at 11:02 a.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011 at the Monroe City Manor, Monroe City, Mo.
She was born Dec. 5,1924 in Hannibal, Mo., the daughter of D.E. “Bert” and
Frances Wicks Stoddard. On Jan. 22, 1948 in Hannibal, she married Garold
Nesbit, who passed away on Feb. 22, 1984.
She is survived by son Rickie Garold Nesbit (Sharon Utterback) of Monroe
City; daughters Sandy Comstock of Chesterton and Cindy O’Connor of New
London, Mo.; grandchildren Bradley Comstock, Sara Comstock Carr, Michael
O’Connor, Chad O’Connor, Jack O’Connor and Brittany Utterback; five great
grandhcildren Jacqueline Carr, Jessica Carr, Alex Carr, Brendon Comstock and
Logan Comstock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Mary Frances
Stoddard.
She and her husband were former Monroe County farmers and owned and operated
Nesbit Trucking and Excavating. They also owned and operated Nesbit Bowling
Lanes in Monroe City for many years before retirement in 1980. She was a
50-year member of the Monroe City VFW Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed camping,
boating, the outdoors and spending time with her family and friends.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 12 at the Garner Funeral Chapel in Monroe
City with Rev. Steve Goughnour officiating. Burial was in the St. Jude
Cemetery in Monroe City. Memorials may be made to the Mid Missouri
Alzheimer’s Association. Garner Funeral Home and Chapel were in charge of
arrangements.
