Ronald J. Vore, age 68 of Porter, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 29, 2011.

He was born on January 25, 1943 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to Joseph and Emma (Stahl) Vore, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Nancy J. (Bennett) Vore, son Gregory (Leslie Lucas) Vore of Porter, daughter Kelly Vore of Chesterton, grandchildren Jessica, Meghan and Juliana Sutter of Chesterton, Tyler Vore of Porter and his great-granddaughter Sophia Kirka of Chesterton.

Also surviving are his sisters and brothers-in-law Pat Christofes, Gertrude and Thomas Maurer, Margaret and Ronald Wasnick, all of Johnstown, Penn., and Elaine and Joseph Klotz of Chesterton.

Also, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, Emma Louise Howsare, Janet and Thomas Baroni, and Terry and Debbie Howsare and special friends Brian Copollo and Jeff Lucas survive.

He is preceded in death by brother-in-law James Christofes and cousin Ken Howsare.

Ron was a 1961 graduate of Richland High School, where he played basketball, baseball and participated in AAABA baseball games in 1957. He was a member of the US Army Reserves and played in several bands in the Johnstown area; Jim & The Bel-Aires and The Checkmates. He worked at Bethlehem Steel, ISG and Arcelor Mittal for 36 years.

Ron loved the outdoors, listening to a variety of music, playing the guitar, and fishing in Michigan and Lake Erie. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a big fan of Penn State, IU and the Steelers. He loved trips to Johnstown to visit family and friends and to attend the Folk Fest.

The family will receive friends for a Memorial visitation from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd Street, Chesterton. A service will follow at 8:00 p.m.

Burial of remains will be held at a later date at the Richland Cemetery, Johnstown, PA.

Memorials may be given to the St. Anthony Hospice, Michigan City in Ronís name.
