Ronald 'Ronnie' Maupin services Thursday

Ronald “Ronnie” Maupin, age 63 of Chesterton, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011 at his home.

He was born March 26, 1948 in Finley, Tennessee to Curtis and Alta (Chandler) Maupin, both of whom preceded him in death.

Ronnie is survived by his sister, Nadine (Homer) Ables of Lake Station, Ind.; brothers, Ralph Maupin of Lake Station, Ind., Larry (Sue) Maupin of LaPorte, Ind., Marvin (Brenda) Maupin of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Gary (Vickie) Maupin of Westville, Ind.; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many great friends.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Juanita Schau and Lindell Maupin and his dog, Scotty.

He was a steel worker at Mittal Steel for 45 years and was a veteran of the US Army.

Ronnie was an avid golfer and Cubs fan. He was a marathon runner, participating in marathons in Chicago, Boston and New Orleans, among others. He was a member of Hilltop Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, with Marvin Maupin officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, Ind.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
