Richard Lee Whitlock, age 80, of Portage, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday,
May 18, 2011 at his home.
He was born on November 12, 1930 in Rinard, Ill. to Clarence and Olive
(Golden) Whitlock.
On June 30, 1957 he married Jeanne (Christiansen) Whitlock who survives of
Portage. He is also survived by daughter, Rebekah (James) Hickle of Colorado
Springs, Col.; mother, Olive Maxine Whitlock of Hendersonville, North
Carolina; two sisters, Cheryl (Robert) Wagner of Fletcher, North Carolina
and Karla Kenyon of Aurora, Ill.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Lester Whitlock, a
brother, Gerald Arlen and a sister, Barbara LaJune.
Cremation will be performed by Heritage Crematory, Portage.
Richard worked at Urschel Laboratories as a machinist. He was an Army
Veteran and an Elder of the Chesterton-Valparaiso Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s
Witnesses.
He was a wonder at wood working and an excellent photographer.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 28, at 2:30 p.m. with Ken
Escott officiating at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 930 N. State Road
149, and Valparaiso, Ind.
Arrangements are under the direction of Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage
Chapel, Portage.
