Nancy A. Niemann (nee Knight), age 53, of Chesterton, Ind., passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011.

Nancy was born on November 17, 1957 in Gary, Ind. to Herschel and Eleanor M. (Bacon) Knight.

She was a graduate of Chesterton High School and graduated with an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Ivy Tech College.

Nancy was self employed working as a medical transcriptionist. She is survived by her mother, Eleanor M. Knight of LaPorte; son, Marcus Niemann of Porter; daughter, Martina Niemann (Fiancé Charles L. Smith) of Westville; former husband and friend, John Niemann of Porter; brother, David Knight of California; sisters; Tina (David) Hunt of Knox and Susan Knight of Indiana, grandson, John Behr and step grandchildren, Sean and Kayla and her good friend, Shirley (John) Seebeck of Chesterton.

She was preceded in death by her father Herschel Knight.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind.

Memorials in Nancy’s name may be made to the Friends of the Porter County Public Library, 102 Jefferson St., Valparaiso, IN 46383.
