Margaret H. Bachuchin of Monessen, Pa. died on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 in the Residence at Hilltop. She was 81.

Born in Monessen on April 7, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Keleman and Elizabeth Vereb Szabo. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was very active with their various activities and functions. She was also past President of both the Monessen High School Football Boosters and the B.G. Gymnastics Booster Club. She was an avid sports fan supporting Monessen High School Greyhounds, Pitt Panthers, the Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, and the Chesterton Trojans. She was formerly employed by Corning Glass of Charleroi and the Charland Garment Factory.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Maria of Chesterton and Mitchell and Patricia of Monessen; grandchildren Mitchell Jr. and Jillian, both of Monessen, and Shara of Pittsburgh; sisters and brother-in-law Betty Malinchak and Nancy and Bob Tyburski, all of Monessen; and numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews; and special companions Britney and Samson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; daughter Myra Spadafore; brothers Stephen “Riggie,” Joseph and James Szabo; and sister Ethel Bachovchin.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc. at Grand Blvd. and Marion Ave. in Monessen and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Grand Blvd., Monessen, with Rev. Jack Hernstrom officiating. Entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 401 Terry Francois, Suite 110, San Francisco, Calif., 94107.
