Joseph E. Chiesi, age 85 of Portage, Ind., passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 in Valparaiso.

He was born December 5, 1925 in Blythedale, Pennsylvania, to Orlando and Mafalda (Baldini) Chiesi, who preceded him in death.

Joseph is survived by his son, Lanier (Tia) Chiesi of Chesterton; stepchildren Terry Papineau and Chris Rogers; brother, Alvin (Dorothy) Chiesi of Blythedale, Penn.; sisters, Bella (James) Kiselich of West Newton, Penn., and Janice (Nick) Holomshek of Blythedale, Penn.; grandchildren, Lanier (Neecy) Chiesi, Christopher Chiesi and Camron Chiesi; step-grandchildren Sarah Rodgers and Angela Armenta; great granddaughter, Ava Marie Chiesi; special friend, Linda Miller; and loving, dedicated companion, Judy Rebollo.

He was preceded in death by his second wife, Norma Chiesi; son David Chiesi and stepdaughter, Leslie Marsh.

Joseph was a resident of Northwest Indiana since 1961, coming from Belle Vernon, Penn. He worked as a General Supervisor in Cold Reduction for Midwest Steel.

Joseph was a former member of the Bonner Senior Center, the Midwest Steel Supervisorís Club, the WMBU Italian Hall and the Sons of Italy. Joseph was a WWII Air Force veteran, stationed as a Radio Operator in India.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Erica Young and Dr. A.J. Pampalone for their faithful care to Joseph.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, Ind.

A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 5:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) at Ralph L. Johnson Funeral Home, 3411 Wood St., Buena Vista, Pennsylvania, 15018. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will follow at West Newton Cemetery, West Newton, Pennsylvania.
