Janet Rowe, age 57, of Chesterton, passed away peacefully Thursday, December
1, 2011, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born
June 18, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois.
Janet was
married on May 12, 1979, in Valparaiso, Ind., to Michael Rowe, who survives
of Chesterton.
Janet is also
survived by her parents, Edward and Helen Martin of Portage; sons, Jeff
(Erika) Van Wagner of Woodridge, Ill., Tim (Kelly) Van Wagner of Valparaiso,
Ind., Michael (Sydney) Rowe of Lafayette, Ind., and Kevin Rowe of Terre
Haute, Ind.; brothers, Jim (Debbie) Martin of Portage, Ind., John (Maria)
Martin and Keith Martin of Valparaiso, Ind.; sister, Donna (Paul) Findley of
San Diego, Calif.; and grandchildren, Benjamin, Zachary, Nicholas and
Samantha.
Janet obtained
her nursing degree from Purdue, and worked as a Registered Nurse and later
as the Cardiac Cath Lab Supervisor at Porter Hospital. She was a White Sox
and IU basketball fan, and an avid reader. Janet enjoyed gardening, feeding
birds, and vacations to Disney World.
Visitation will
be held on Sunday, December 4, 2011, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Edmonds &
Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.
Funeral services
will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home
with Father Andrew Corona officiating. Cremation will be performed by
Heritage Crematory, Portage, Ind., with burial of ashes at Chesterton
Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be
made to the American Cancer Society.
