George Dellinger service set

George L. Dellinger of Jackson Township passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 at the VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso. He was 79.

On Feb. 18, 1931 in Baltimore, Md., he was born to James and Edna (Clark) Dellinger, both of whom preceded him in death.

George is survived by his daughters Debra (husband Edward) Nespo and Pamela (Keith) Roberts, both of Jackson Township; granddaughters Melissa (Greg) Fuller of Chesterton, Tanya (Mark) Dean of Winder, Ga. and Stephanie (Ben) Bryant of Porter; great-grandchildren Taylor Dean, Logan and Gaige Creekbaum and Carsen Bryant; and brother Robert (wife Shirley) Dellinger of Baltimore, Md.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Margurite E. Dellinger, on Oct. 28, 2010 and a brother, James Dellinger.

George was in management at Bethlehem Steel and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He also served in the Air Force from 1948-52, was a founding member of the Moose Lodge 1623 in Chesterton with a Pilgrim Degree, and was on the Board of Directors of the Expo Center. He was active in the United Way, served on the board for the Shultz-Lewis Children’s Home and was instrumental in the building of Sand Creek Country Club for Bethlehem Steel.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. from the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton with Father James Meade officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 26 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home with a Moose Memorial Service at 6 p.m. Burial will be in the Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso.
