Frances Erickson, age 86 of Valparaiso (Jackson Township), died on Tuesday,
December 20, 2011.
Frances was born on February 22, 1925 in Stickney, South Dakota, the
daughter of Gurney F. Hanson, Sr. and Genevieve (Ket) Hanson, both preceded
her in death.
She married George W. Erickson on January 16, 1944. He preceded her in death
on January 3, 1987. She is lovingly remembered by her three children, Warren
L. (Judy) Erickson of Greer, South Carolina and Lynn and Rebecca Erickson,
of Valparaiso.
Frances loved her three grandchildren Gill (Mick) Story, David (Sarah)
Erickson and Scott (Ann) Erickson as well as her six great-grandchildren and
many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by sisters Gladys Parker and Betty Vantyle, and brother
Garney F. (Betty) Hanson Jr.
Frances was a member of Liberty Bible Church for over sixty years. She also
sang in the choir for forty years and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed
having missionaries visit on furlough.
Fran worked for twenty-five years at Manley Brothers in Chesterton. She also
was employed at Bergrens and Fringe of the Dunes. She worked for her niece,
Dr. Wendy Parker, as a bookkeeper for twelve years. She retired at age 80.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 26 at
White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton. The funeral will
follow visitation on Monday, Dec. 26, at 11 a.m. at White-Love Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Chesterton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Liberty Bible
Church for missionaries, Dr. Gene and Phylis Borman.
