Vincent Lafata of Chesterton passed away on Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 at Porter
Hospital. He was 77.
Vincent was born on Nov. 18, 1932 to Paul and Pauline (Palazzolo) Lafata,
both of whom preceded him in death. On Feb. 28, 1953 he married Nancy J.
Morrissey-Lafata, who survives in Chesterton.
Also surviving are children Robert Lafata (wife Wanda)of Chesterton, David
Lafata of North Carolina, Jeffery Lafata of Chesterton, Paul Lafata (Barb)of
Portage, Therese Lafata of Chesterton and Elaina Albers (husband Greg) of
LaPorte; brother Sam Lafata (Mae) of Hobart; and sister, Josephine
Fiordirosa of Chicago.
Vincent is preceded in death by a daughter Kathleen, daughter-in-law Tammy,
siblings Paul and Phil Lafata and Mae Shingler.
Vincent was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus
4th Degree. He enjoyed coin collecting and working puzzles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Oct. 27 at St. Patrick
Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet, Chesterton at 10 a.m. with Father James
Meade officiating. The burial will take place at Ridgelawn Mount Mercy
Cemetery, Gary. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 26 from 4
to 8 p.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. Second St., Chesterton. A
rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. For more information, call
