Chesterton resident Robert E. Hultquist, 78, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010,
at Miller’s Merry Manor in Portage.
He was born May 18, 1931, in Chicago, the son of Elmer and Anna (Pavis)
Hultquist, who preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death, on Aug. 30, 1999, by his wife, Barbara
Hultquist.
He is survived by four children, Tim (Barbara) Hultquist, David (Theresa)
Hultquist, and Susan (Kelly) Cole, all of Chesterton, and Lisa (Jeff) Bogan
of Bradenton, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three
sisters, Ruth Fogg, Marilyn Reese, and Margaret (John) Saphire, all of
Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his son Steven in 1984; and by his sister Doris
Thompson.
Bob was a graduate of Bowen High School in Chicago and served in the U.S.
Navy. He belonged to American Legion Post 170 and Augsburg Evangelical
Lutheran Church, worked as a boilermaker at U.S. Steel, and was an avid
Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks fan. In his earlier days he enjoyed bowling and
playing league softball.
A memorial service, Pastor Erik Bernth officiating, is scheduled for 11 a.m.
Tuesday, April 6, at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. Second St. in
Chesterton.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of
service.
