Services set for Margaret Crago

Margaret Salandra Crago, age 87, of Chesterton, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, in Michigan City.

She was born on November 7, 1922, in New Alexandria, Pa., to Carmine Salandria and Congetta (Agresti) Salandria, Demarco, who preceded her in death.

She was married on January 28, 1941, in Ohio to Joseph Crago, who preceded her in death on February 14, 1974.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Dennis (Lee) Crago of Bethlehem, Pa., and Kenneth (Laura Brandt) Crago of Chesterton; grandchildren, Kevin (Christine Barley) Crago of Jupiter, Fla., Dean (Susan) Crago of Morristown, N.J., Keith Crago of Hoboken, N.J., Anthony Crago of Seattle, Wash., Christopher (Karen) Crago of Bethlehem, Pa., and Matthew (Shelley) Campbell of Michigan City; great-grandchildren, Dylan Preston Crago of Jupiter, Fla., Colby and Kyle (twins) Crago of Morristown, N.J., Carson Crago of Morristown, N.J., Emma and Lillian Crago of Bethlehem, Pa., and Cheyenne Campbell of Michigan City; sisters, Josephine Caruso of Farrell, Pa., Ermenia “Millie” Gondak of Fairless Hills, Pa., Louise Kromka of Farrell, Pa., Sadie (Joseph) Validzich of Hermitage, Pa., and Floretta Guanciale of Palm Harbor, Fla.; brother, Alfred “Harry” Salandria of Sharon, Pa.; sister-in-law, Matilda Pandza of Farrell, Pa.; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Patsy, Joseph and Steve Salandria.

In 1941 Joseph and Margaret moved to Gary and moved to Chesterton in 1972. Margaret worked at H. Gordon & Sons in Gary prior to moving to Chesterton. She worked at the Chesterton State Bank (INB) for 14 years before retiring in 1990. Margaret was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chesterton. She was also a member of the Farrell High School Alumni Association in Farrell, Pa., and a member of AARP.

Private funeral services will be held at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Burial will take place at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
