Chesterton resident William Cunningham passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2010 in
Michigan City. He was 83.
He was born May 1, 1927 in Chesterton to Bart and Lena (Thoeson) Cunningham,
who preceded him in death.
William was married to Barbara (Kolic) Cunningham, who survives of
Chesterton.
He is also survived by his sister, Lucille Hughes (husband Robert) of
Knoxville, Tenn.; nephews Jim Ray (wife Karen) of Montana and John Ray (Sue)
of Chesterton; niece Cathy Clowder (Stuart) of New Carlisle, Ind.; and
several great and great great nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Ray; and his nephew, Tom
Ray.
William was a lifelong area resident.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Chesterton American Legion
Post 170 and the St. Gilbert Chapter of the Knights of Columbus.
William was also a member of the Chesterton Volunteer Fire Department since
1948.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. at St.
Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Road, Chesterton, with Father
Lawrence Heeg officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Catholic
Cemetery, Chesterton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Edmonds &
Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Memorials may be made to the
Chesterton Volunteer Fire Department.
