Verone Witham of Merrillville passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the
Horton Hospice Center in Valparaiso. She was 80.
Born on October 23, 1929 in Chicago, she was the daughter of Edgar Brown and
Dorothy Davern Brown, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by
her son Craig (wife Paula) Ergang of Lakes of the Four Seasons; daughters
Cheryl (husband Carl) Schutzman of Dyer and Kim (Tom) Allen of Chesterton;
eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister Kathleen (Frank)
DiGrazia of Chesterton; and nephew Dennis Frye of Chesterton.
Verone was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital, The Caring Place, and the
Cancer Society of Crown Point and was very active in the Relay for Life
volunteering for 40 years.
A memorial service will be held at Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100
N. Mineral Springs Road, Porter on Saturday, June 19, at 11 a.m. with Pastor
Erik Bernth officiating. Memorials may be given to The Relay for Life and
the American Cancer Society. The arrangements are under the direction of
White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd Street, Chesterton. For more
