Service set for Ronald Ward

Ronald Ward of Valparaiso passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2010 at his home. He was 68.

He was born Jan. 21, 1942 in Gary, the son of Benjamin Thomas and Virginia (Shoemake) Ward, who preceded him in death. He was married to Carol (Truth) Ward, who also preceded him in death.

Ronald is survived by sons Wayne Ward (wife Rhonda) of Chesterton and Jerald Ward (Cathy) of Florida; daughter Sherry Ward of Portage; brother James Ward (Marlene) of South Carolina; sister Joyce Beck of Portage; grandchildren Scott, Michael, Grace, Evan, Randy, Kevin, Christina, Jacob, Brandon Michael and Brandon William; and great grandchild, Alisa Lynn.

Ronald was a lifelong area resident. He worked as a Strand Operator for U.S. Steel and was a member of Liberty Bible Church. Ronald loved fishing and hunting with his son, Wayne. He also enjoyed woodworking and crafts. Ronald was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post, and the Chesterton Moose Lodge.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 11 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. www.EE-FH.com
