Chesterton resident Juanita “Sis” Jones passed away Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010
at Porter Hospital Valparaiso Campus. She was 79.
Born Sept. 30, 1930 in Chesterton, she was the daughter of Leland and Evelyn
(Edmond) Bedenkop, who preceded her in death. She was married to William
Randler, who also preceded her in death. After William’s death, she was
married to Lowell “Nick” Jones, who preceded her in death in 1995.
Sis is survived her daughters Bonita (Kim) Gaston of Chesterton and Cindy
Randler (Richard Neal) of Jackson Township; son Tim (wife Jeri) Randler;
grandchildren Kelly Gaston, Jeff Gaston, Kendra (Jared) Prast and Robert
Randler; and three great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her
son William Robert Randler Jr. and brother David Bedenkop.
Sis was a lifelong area resident. She worked as a custodian for the Duneland
School Corporation, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Chesterton
Moose Lodge and American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. at the
Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, with Rev. Christine
Newman-Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery,
Chesterton. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at
the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Oncology Department at the
University of Chicago for research.
