Glenda L. Martin passed away Dec. 1, 2010 in San Antonio, Texas, at her home
with family at her side. She was 69.
She was born August 27, 1941 to William and Monna Harris in Kokomo, Ind. She
moved to Chesterton in 1947, where she was the third oldest of 13 brothers
and sisters. After Glenda retired from EDS in Kokomo, she moved to San
Antonio to be near her daughter and family members. She was a member of the
First Baptist Church of Schertz, Texas. She spent her time getting involved
with her community and volunteered at the local library and at a clinic on
Randolph Air Force Base. She was also involved in multiple fund raisers
throughout her community. Glenda brought much love to the kittens that she
thoroughly enjoyed fostering. In her spare time throughout her life she
enjoyed making ceramics, sewing, gardening, and playing card games with
family and friends. She was unbeatable in rummy. Her smile and laughter
could light up the room.
She is survived by a son, Robert Collins (wife Kristy); daughter Mary Bolton
(husband Justin); step-sons Jeff Martin (Rita) and Greg Martin; five
grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and 15
step-great grandchildren; six sisters; and four brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Monna Harris; her
brother, Kenneth Gene Harris; her sister, Delores Diane Harris; and her
husbands, Robert R. Collins and Rector E. Martin.
A funeral
service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans
Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton with Pastor Larry Starett
officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. Visitation will be
held on Wednesday, Dec. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials in
Glenda’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences
