Eva Cortazar of Inverness, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010. She
was 56.
She was born on Nov. 28, 1953 in East Chicago. She was a member of St.
Theresa’s Church in Palatine, Ill. Eva lived as a free spirit, loving all
and was loved by everyone.
Eva is survived by her father, Antonio A. Cortazar of Palatine; brothers
Edward Egipciaco of Mexico, Raymond (wife Theresa) Cortazar of Michigan, and
Rick Cortazar of Morganton, N.C.; sisters Theresa “Terri” Hurst (husband
Charles) of Chesterton, Margaret Geittmann (Dr. Peter) of Inverness, Ida
Saims (Peter) of Hobart, and Anita Lathrop (Jack) of Santa Clara, Calif.;
several nieces and nephews; and 22 great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Teresa Cortazar.
Funeral services will be Monday, Sept. 27, beginning with 9:30 a.m. prayers
at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart and proceeding to St.
Bridget Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial with Bishop Andrew
McDonald and Rev. Dominic V. Bertino concelebrating. Burial will follow at
Calumet Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 25, from 2 p.m. to
