Elizabeth A. Layman of Portage, formerly of The Pines and Chesterton, passed
away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010 in Hobart. She was 84.
She was born Nov. 29, 1925 to John W. and Anna C. (Johnsen) Nicholson, who
preceded her in death. Elizabeth was married to Daniel M. Layman, who
preceded her in death in 2006.
She is survived by her son, Donald Mark Layman (wife Grace) of Lake Station;
and sister, Marge Kietzman of The Pines.
Elizabeth was also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, John “Jack,”
and Donald Nicholson; and sisters, Dorthia and Alice.
Elizabeth was an area resident for 25 years and attended Pines Bible Church.
She worked as registered nurse for Tampa General in Tampa, Fla. and also for
Porter Memorial Hospital in the 40’s and 50’s. She enjoyed reading the
Bible, gardening and cooking for her son, Don.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. at Edmonds &
Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, with Pastor Rick Jones
officiating. Burial will follow at Augsburg Cemetery, Porter. Visitation
will be held on Thursday, Oct. 28 from noon until the time of service at 2
