Service set for Elaine L. Crumpacker

Chesterton resident Elaine L. Crumpacker died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Life Care Center in Valparaiso. She was 87.

Born on June 2, 1922 in Hammond, she was the daughter of William and Lillian (Kash) Henkel. She was married to Bart Crumpacker, who preceded her in death in November, 2000.

She is survived by sons W. Dean Crumpacker (wife Debra) of Valparaiso and Dan Crumpacker (Jackie) of Georgia; grandchildren Sarah Polito of Arizona, Christopher Crumpacker (Robin) of Brownsburg, Ind., and Rebecca Patton (husband Matthew) of Wheatfield, Ind.; great-grandchildren Lizabella, Zachary and Joseph; and sister Darline Whitehouse of Oregon.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Dawn Hattendorf in December of 2007.

She was a retired supervisor at AT&T and a member and past president of the Chesterton Woman’s Club. She enjoyed cooking and knitting and loved her children, grandchilren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13 at 11 a.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. Second St., Chesterton with Rev. Fred Niedner officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Chesterton Woman’s Club.
