David R. Olson of Brown County passed away Monday, July 5, 2010 at
Bloomington Hospital. He was 66.
Born Jan. 29, 1944 in Gary, he was the son of the late Simon and Helen
(Geiger) Olson. He married his loving wife of 45 years, Joyce V. (Langman)
Olsen, on June 25, 1965 in Gary. She survives.
Also surviving are daughters Debbie Hibner of Brown County and Tricia M.
(husband Bon) Petretta of Portage; sons Matthew (wife Jocelyn) Olson of
Bigsby, Okla., and Mark (wife Carrie) Olson of Knoxville, Tenn.; 14
grandchildren; and sister Joyce Globke of Hammond.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a twin brother, Donald Olson
David was a 1962 graduate of Lew Wallace High School in Gary. He retired in
2000 as a scarfer from Bethlehem Steel after 34 years of service. He was a
professional and passionate cabinet and furniture maker. He enjoyed reading
mystery books and watching NCIS & Criminal Minds on television. He also
enjoyed working in his vegetable and flower gardens and loved to travel with
his wife to Minnesota for fishing trips. He was a member of the Goshen
Community Church in Brown County and was a past member of the Swedish Lodge
in Indianapolis.
The Rev. Barb Woods will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Thursday at
Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E.
Mulberry Street, Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at
the funeral home. Burial will be at Goshen Community Church Cemetery in
Brown County.
