Charles R. Boothe, Sr. of Michigan City, died Friday, June 25, 2010 at St.
Anthony Memorial Health Care. He was 82.
He was born November 15, 1927 in Michigan City to Rufus and Catherine (Weise)
Boothe, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Carol Keppen, who
passed away in 1987.
He is survived by children Margarethe “Peggy” (husband Steve) Sharp of Ark.
and Pamela Smith, Charles (wife Vicky) Boothe, Jr., Penny (Mike) Janowski
and Patricia (Rich) Hewson, all of Michigan City; 10 grandchildren; several
great-grandchildren; sisters Mildred Dille of Chesterton and Rosemary
Agorichas of N.M.; several beloved nieces and nephews; and special friend
Annette Zona of Michigan City.
He had been a carpenter, and he also worked as a switchman and yard man for
New York Central Railroad. He retired from Gerwin Ind. A veteran of the U.S.
Army, he loved gardening, trains, tractors, fishing, and making furniture
for his family. He built houses, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and loved his
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 29 at 11 a.m. at Carlisle
Funeral Home, 613 Washington St., Michigan City. Visitation will be Monday
