Service set for Annabelle Helen Burton

Annabelle Helen Burton of New Carlisle, Ind., formerly of Chesterton, passed away Monday, Sept. 13, 2010. She was 88.

On July 6, 1941 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Chesterton, she married Webster D. Burton Sr., who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Carl Burton (wife Linda) of Chesterton; daughter Anne Bogda (husband Paul) of New Carlisle; beloved Susan McIntyre; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Webster Dale Burton Jr.; great grandchild, Finneas; grandparents, Walter and Cora Ocobock and Charles and Mathilda Pearson; and maternal aunt, Ruth Ocobock.

Annabelle graduated from Chesterton High School in 1940 and attended Valparaiso University. She was a resident of Chesterton for more than 70 years, before moving to New Carlisle, where she lived for 17 years. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Hope Linnea Circle. Annabelle was also a member of the Chesterton Women’s Club and the Valparaiso University Guild. After moving to New Carlisle, she worked as a Clerk for the New Carlisle Public Library.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m. directly at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W. 1100 N., Chesterton, with Rev. Jane Aicher officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN. www.EE-FH.com
