Chesterton resident Abbie June Hadenfelt passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010
at Porter Hospital Valparaiso Campus. She was 88.
She was born June 7, 1922 in Gary to Frank and Maria Johnson. She was a
sales clerk retiring from Carson Pirie Scott & Company. She was a former
member of the Chesterton Women of the Moose. She loved to crochet, sew,
garden and always had several cats and dogs around her home.
She is survived by her son George Hadenfelt (wife Carol) of Chesterton;
daughter Deloris Williams (husband Joseph) of St. John; seven grandchildren
Theresa Hadenfelt, Tremayne Hadenfelt (Sue), Angi Proffit (Clay), Thomas
Frangis (Bonnie) , Anthony Williams, Yolanda Williams, and Jason Williams;
10 great grandchildren; sister Esther Madden of New York; sister-in-law Pat
Johnson-Walsh of Goshen; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband George “Morry”
Hadenfelt, her daughter Brenda Taylor, her grandson Jason Frangis, and her
brother Franklin Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24 at Edmonds & Evans
Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Burial will follow at Chesterton
Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the
funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Porter County Animal
