Service held for Rochelle Groff

Rochelle E. Groff passed away on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 at home after a lengthy battle with a rare disease. She was 71.

She was born in Rensselaer, Ind. on Feb. 6, 1939 to Margaret (Cochran) Hewitt and Robert Hewitt.

She graduated from Chesterton High School in 1957 and then attended personnel training in Omaha, Neb. After graduating she worked in Chicago and then Valparaiso for Indiana General for five years. Rochelle then began working for the Duneland School Corporation at Liberty Middle School as a secretary for 29 years, retiring in 1999.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ronald; her loving daughter, Margo Winey (husband Tim); two special grandchildren, Elizabeth Paige and Mitchell Alexander; her two sweet grand dogs, KC and Cooper; brother Roger Hewitt (wife Gerry); special sister in law, Pat Johnson; and stepfather Earl Meneely.

Her joys in life were family and friends. She also enjoyed camping in the west, especially Yellowstone.
