Chesterton resident Sadie G. (Tinney) Horton passed away on Thursday, Jan.
14, 2010 at the Waters of Duneland Health Care Center, Chesterton. She was
91.
She was born on July 16, 1918 in Sycamore, Ala. to Joseph and Martha
(Blanchard) Tinney. On July 16, 1946 in Talladega County, Ala., she married
Grady L. Horton, who preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2000.
Sadie is survived by her children Jack Horton (wife Judy) of Chesterton, Ron
Horton (Pam) of Chesterton, Sherry King (husband Harold) of Burns Harbor,
Paula Deiotte (Mike) of Porter; grandchildren Jodi Lagen (Tom) of
Chesterton, Jami Horton of Chesterton, Heather Heitert (Ken) of Chesterton,
Scott Horton (Laura) of Chesterton, Amanda Horton of Hobart, Kati Verbich
(Jeremy) of Lake Station, Steve King of Burns Harbor, Toni Biancardi (Tony)
of Burns Harbor, Courtney Grubbs (Sean) of Valparaiso, Alyson Beadle (Gabe)
of Chesterton, Jessica Deiotte of Bloomington, Dylan Deiotte of Porter, and
Mike and Brian Hultquist; nine great grandchildren; and sister Ruth Norred.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son
Nolan (Tony) Horton, daughter-in-law Gail Horton, and brother and sisters
Howell Tinney, Mary Myrtis, Sallie Viola and Martha Louise.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 6 p.m. at Edmonds &
Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. A visitation will be held on
Tuesday, Jan. 19 from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. at the
funeral home. Private interment will be in Chesterton Cemetery. Memorials
may be made to the VNA Hospice Center or to the Waters of Duneland Health
