Former Chesterton resident Della (Reilly) Herzog of Berwyn, Ill., passed
away June 14, 2010.
She was a native
of Chesterton and graduated from Chesterton High School in 1961. She
attended Swedish Covenant Nursing College, where she graduated in 1965 with
her RN degree. She worked at Children’s Memorial Hospital for years in
dialysis. She later worked at Hines Veteran Hospital in research. In 1970,
she married Larry Herzog and in 2008, she retired. She loved to travel in
the United States and abroad. She frequently returned home to Chesterton to
visit family, and she loved the Lake Michigan beaches.
She is survived
by sister Lee Krueger; brothers Bob (wife Nancy) Piver and Dale Reilly; and
numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
She was preceded
in death by a sister and brother.
Memorial
services will be held July 17 at Christ Church of Oak Brook, 31 York Road,
Oak Brook, Ill., with a gathering in remembrance of Della’s journeys through
life from noon to 1 p.m., a memorial service from 1 to 2 p.m., and
visitation with others from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to the
American Cancer Society in Della’s memory.
