Edna Mae Swan of LaPorte, formerly of Chesterton, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010 at the LaPorte Hospital in LaPorte. She was 89.

She was born Dec. 27, 1920 in Wellersburg, Penn., the daughter of John and Martha Petenbrink Clark, both of whom preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her husband, William Swan Sr., who died on Sept. 2, 2004.

She is survived by sons William (wife Carole) Swan Jr. of Irons, Mich., and Gary (Sandie) Swan of LaPorte; and one sister Lois Plew of Columbia City, Ind. She was also preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.

Edna was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in South Haven, Ind.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 8 at 10 a.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South Second St. in Chesterton with Pastor John Allen officiating. The burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 7 from 5 to 8 p.m.
